Our Executive Staff Lawrence Thompson joined the company in May 2008 and has overall responsibility for the performance of Brokerage Concepts, Inc. Larry came to HealthNow with more than 30 years experience in the benefits industry. Prior to joining HealthNow, he was executive vice president of Healthaxis, Inc. in Irving, Texas, where he was responsible for sales, marketing, product development and strategic planning. In 2001, Larry founded and was chief executive officer of Benefit Systems, Inc., a consulting company and serves as president of Ben Mar Insurance Services, a general agency and brokerage company that he formed in 1988 in Fresno, California. After earning his bachelor's degree in economics and business from Eckerd College, Larry completed graduate courses at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He is currently a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He served on the Board of the Self Insurance Institute of America for seven years and was its chair in 2003, and is also past president of life and health insurance associations in Fresno and sat on the California Association of Health Underwriters Board of Directors.
With more than 25 years of systems development, implementation and management experience within the health insurance arena, Bobby Ahrens has expertise encompassing all aspects of TPA systems ranging from product development and marketing to underwriting, policy fulfillment, claims processing, accounting, actuarial reporting, telecommunications and security. Bobby entered the TPA business in Austin, Texas, with a New York Life subsidiary, Hillhouse Associates in 1987 (which later became New York Life Administration Corp.) where he spent 11 years in roles of increasing responsibility. In 1998, Bobby joined El Dorado Computing as executive vice president and helped launch the Healthware ASP model while working with client services and software development. For the past nine years, Bobby has worked on behalf of Boon Chapman Administrators and has been fully responsible for all systems and support including benefit informatics, plan building, premiums and eligibility, and business system solutions which support an in-house medical management team. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management Information Systems from Southwest Texas State University.
Tom Spradling has more than 25 years of financial management experience in the healthcare, construction, retail, manufacturing and insurance administration industries in roles of increasing responsibility involving accounting and financial management. As a senior manager of several industry-leading companies, Tom's experience includes cash flow management, oversight of financial databases and software systems, inventory, staff management, budgeting, actuarial studies and reports, and profitability reports and analysis. Tom earned a bachelor's degree from California State University, Fresno, where he previously made his home.
Rose Lewis has held this position since 2006. Prior to that, in more than 20 years of service with BCI, she has grown from group service representative/office manager to group service manager and, later, claims manager. Prior to her current role, Rose was director of claims and service operations. Her career also includes experience with Cigna as a claims analyst and Life of Virginia as a group service supervisor. Rose is a member of the Society of Professional Benefits Administrators and of the Self-Insurance Institute of America, and is pursuing certification as a chartered life underwriter. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education, and earned an executive master of business administration from Temple University.
Ellen Radcliffe joined BCI in 1977, shortly after it was founded in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. She has held several roles in the company, including account executive and director of individual sales, and has consistently been among top performers in the company. In addition, she was national individual sales manager for Leibovitz Associates, Inc. Ellen serves on the board of Greater Philadelphia Associations of Health Underwriters and is a member of the Society of Professional Benefits Administrators and the Self-Insurance Institute of America. She is also a chartered life and a chartered benefit consultant. She earned a master's degree in business from LaSalle University, where she specialized in insurance and risk, and a bachelor's degree in economics from Quinnipiac College.
